Choose the season that fits the trip
Best time to visit Park City
Compare Park City seasons, crowds, weather, activities and reservation pressure before choosing travel dates.
Choose dates around the activity, not a generic “best month”
Park City changes with resort operations, event calendars, weather and the amount of flexibility in your trip. A good date for a ski lesson may be a poor fit for a quiet weekend or a lift-served summer outing. Start with the experience that matters most, then check whether it is actually operating on your dates.
- Winter: prioritize the exact mountain base, lessons or equipment schedule, then compare lodging and transport. Resort opening and closing targets can change with conditions.
- Summer: check lift, bike, golf and trail availability for each day; shoulder-season service can run on fewer days than peak-season schedules.
- Spring and late fall: keep the itinerary flexible. Seasonal transitions can mean that one activity has stopped while another has not yet opened.
- Event dates: look at the published calendar before choosing a room. Then confirm parking, ticketing and transit changes with the event or agency.
Use monthly averages to choose a comfortable window
Visit Park City’s published weather guide describes the destination’s elevation as roughly 6,400 to 9,900 feet and lists monthly average highs and lows. These averages help with packing and trip style; they do not predict the forecast for a particular day or the conditions at a specific trail or resort base. Check the official Park City weather guide and the National Weather Service forecast again near departure.
| Month | Average high | Average low |
|---|---|---|
| January | 37°F | 14°F |
| February | 42°F | 16°F |
| March | 49°F | 23°F |
| April | 59°F | 29°F |
| May | 68°F | 35°F |
| June | 78°F | 41°F |
| July | 87°F | 48°F |
| August | 86°F | 48°F |
| September | 76°F | 39°F |
| October | 62°F | 30°F |
| November | 47°F | 22°F |
| December | 37°F | 14°F |
For winter trips, plan for cold starts even when the afternoon feels comfortable. Spring and fall have wider transition risk: a trail, lift, restaurant or road plan may change sooner than the monthly average suggests. In summer, the same temperature table does not establish lift or trail operations; check the activity’s own schedule.
Check the exact resort calendar before setting ski dates
For winter 2026–27, Park City Mountain’s official schedule lists a November 20, 2026 to April 19, 2027 operating window and states that dates and operations depend on weather and conditions. That applies to Park City Mountain only. Check Park City Mountain’s operating hours and Deer Valley’s hours separately; neither a season window nor a mountain-wide label guarantees a specific lift, lesson, restaurant or activity will operate on your date.
After choosing the resort, match the lodging base and arrival plan to that mountain. Park City Mountain’s Mountain Village and Canyons Village are separate arrival choices. Use the winter-weekend guide’s 2026–27 parking comparison and parking and transit guide before you book a car or room.
Use a three-check date test
- Open the operating calendar for the exact activity and date, not a general seasonal page.
- Check the forecast and road or trail information near departure; a long-range average cannot tell you what will be open that day.
- Compare the lodging cancellation terms and transport plan against the activity’s uncertainty.
If the trip depends on one date-specific experience, reserve the flexible parts first and leave a backup in a different category: indoor, lower-intensity or closer to the lodging base. If several days are available, place the activity with the most variable conditions in the middle of the trip so it can move.
