Mountain golf, planned clearly

Golf around Park City

More than a dozen courses lie within the broader Park City and Wasatch Back area, but public access, drive time and seasons vary. Start with access rules and location—not a scenic photo alone.

Public options close to town

Park City Golf Club is the municipal option near town, while Canyons Golf is a public mountain course at Canyons Village. Canyons is an 18-hole, par-70 layout with substantial elevation change, so cart rules, pace and weather deserve attention.

Wasatch Mountain and Soldier Hollow add public options in the Heber Valley area. They can fit a longer golf day, but “near Park City” still means budgeting for the drive in both directions.

Private and resort-adjacent golf

Several prominent courses are private or limited to members and guests. Do not assume a listing, resort stay or restaurant reservation creates tee access. Ask whether play is public, lodging-linked, member-sponsored or event-only before making another reservation around it.

At elevation, weather and hydration can affect the round. Carry layers, sun protection and water even on a clear morning.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Is the selected tee time open to the public, and what is included in the quoted rate?
  • Are carts required, and are there current cart-path restrictions?
  • What is the cancellation or weather policy?
  • Are rental clubs available in the needed dexterity and flex?
  • How early should the group arrive, and is parking at the clubhouse?
  • Does the course have an aeration or maintenance window near the trip date?

Pair golf with the right evening

A Canyons Village round pairs naturally with village dining or a Kimball Junction stop. Park City Golf Club is better positioned for Old Town afterward. Heber Valley courses create a regional day; returning through town at peak dinner time may require a wider reservation window.

Practical planning depth

Mountain golf requires more than a tee time

Park City-area golf includes municipal, resort, public and private courses across town and the Heber Valley. Verify public access before building the day around a course. A lodging relationship, restaurant reservation or online listing does not necessarily create playing access at a private club.

Elevation changes ball flight, walking effort and weather exposure. Carry water, sun protection and a layer even when the morning is clear. Afternoon wind or thunderstorms can affect pace and completion, so understand the course’s weather and cancellation policies.

Regional courses can add substantial drive time. Pair the round with dining or another activity in the same area, and avoid a narrow evening reservation window after an unfamiliar course.
